Uncover tales of civilian resilience and courage in the aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Together with the Smithsburg (MD) Historical Society, Inc., the Monterey Pass Battlefield Association, Inc. and No Small Change Programs, we are launching our PERILS AND PURSUITS project with a free public program on October 14, 2025 at the Smithsburg Library at 6:30 p.m. Our presenter is Darwin Seiler, Director of Friends of the Monterey Pass Battlefield, Inc.
Designed for Civil War Buffs...and the "Casually Curious" about local history, we strive to uncover the stories of individuals who lived through the tumultuous events of the Civil War along the Mason-Dixon line. Our current focus is on Smithsburg, Leitersburg, and Ringgold.
Through ongoing research and collaboration, we aim to highlight the experiences that shaped our area's history.
